Abandoned houses

When I came across these, I knew I just had to post Kevin Bauman’s beautiful photographs of abandoned houses in the Detroit suburbs. These images creep under your skin, stays there, and makes you wonder what happened to the people who once lived there. Melancholic, eerie and fascinating at the same time.
The series is called 100 abandoned houses where the prints are available to order, with some of the proceeds going to a charity doing some positive work in Detroit.

Am from near Detroit (though live in the UK now) when I was little Detroit was amazing, all the buildings were beautiful and its just been left to ruin really, which is a shame, but its good they are trying to do something about it! This is a great documentation of it :) Have a great weekend xx

    Who used to live in them? And who was the last person to close the front door on such beauty? I guess every single one has a sad story.

  18. these really are magical. i love thinking up stories about who used to live there, and dreaming about how beautiful they would be if fixed up. but there's a lot of beauty in how they look here isn't there?

  22. I am pleased you all love these - I nearly fell over when I came across these, as I think they pictures are so incredibly beautiful - the decaying is heartbreaking and have me thinking of lost time. And I am so glad about the charity work they are trying to do.

  23. These images are stunning. I am sure these houses look beautiful at one time. I always find abandoned homes fascinating, creepy and intriguing. It makes me wonder who lived there previously and why they left. I am also curious to find out what is left inside the house. How adventurous is it to explore a house like this?
