The Round Tower

10/04/2015

In Copenhagen we have a Round Tower - RUNDETÅRN. And when I say round I mean round. It is the oldest observatory in town, built by King Christian IV, between 1637 and 1642. It was the first part of the Trinitatis Complex, which combined church, library and observatory in a single building.

The Round tower has no lift, so you have to walk (or run) all the way to the top - where you will find the most exquisite views of Copenhagen. We love going there, just for the sheer joy of pacing to the top; trust me the girls are at the top in no time. I take my time - taking pictures of course. Please notice that the tower is 41.55 meters tall, and you cannot access the tower in wheelchairs, or with buggies or prams. The Roundtower has many hyggelige nooks and crannies, and it is great fun exploring.

Admission is very cheap: around 2$ for kids and around 6$ per adult. It should be on your list of places to see, even just for a view from the top.
